LOCAL EMPLOYMENT SERVICE NETWORK
The main role of the Canal Communities Partnership Local Employment Service Network (LESN) is to provide a service to long-term unemployed job-seekers and others distant from the labour market that live in the Partnership area and who wish to return to work or are interested in taking up further training or education opportunities.

LESN offices offering direct services to clients have been established in Bluebell, Inchicore and Rialto. There are several different service components currently provided by the LESN.

Client Mediation
Five mediators are employed by the LESN. They meet with clients on a one-to-one basis and focus on the individual needs of each client. They try to provide options for the client to pave the way to employment.

Outreach Service
Two outreach workers are employed by the LESN to promote the service locally. In particular, they focus on local community and voluntary organisations. The outreach workers also encourage client registrations within areas and from groups that are under-represented.

Job Club
Based in the Goldenbridge Complex the Club works to:

• Develop job-seeking skills

• Provide access to the full facilities of the Club for participants

• Provide participants with the option of exploring work opportunities

• Give participants the means of identifying their own strengths and skills and match them to local work opportunities

• Develop a network of contacts which will actively assist participants in obtaining work

Training
A selection of work-related training programmes is offered free of charge to clients of the LESN in order to give them the skills to assist with gaining employment. The courses cover: Computer Literacy, Computers for Improvers, Keyboard Skills, Office Skills, Receptionist Training, Manual Bookkeeping, Occupational First Aid, Manual Handling and Safe Pass.
