ENTERPRISE
The Enterprise support service is another strand of the Partnership's work which comes under the heading of Services to the Unemployed. The aim is to provide the necessary supports for unemployed people who want to become self-employed.
One-to-One Support • Business planning • Taxation • Accessing funding
The main focus of this support is on people participating in the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme. Participants in this scheme receive up to two years financial support. They also keep some of their secondary welfare benefits from the Department of Social and Family Affairs and the Regional Health Boards during this period.
Social Enterprise
For example Fatima Launderette is a community based enterprise which has been supported by the Partnership over a number of years, especially during the regeneration of Fatima Mansions which is now in the final stages of completion. The Partnership’s enterprise co-ordinator assisted the management committee in producing a strategic business plan and gave on-going support as issues arose.
The Launderette is now fully operational providing a mix of commercial and retail business from its new purpose-built premises within the newly Fatima regenerated neighbourhood and at the moment employs 16 people.
Business Start-up Training
For people who engage in, or want to engage in, enterprise development the Partnership runs workshops and seminars on a range of useful topics which includes training in book-keeping, start your own business and other relevant topics where the demand arises.
